Climber

Class A CDL Driver

Ground Person

Climber

 

Status: Full-Time

Reports to: Crew Leader

Primary Function: Works as a team member of a tree care crew with the primary functioning as a climber as well as assisting crew leaders in the performance of any services.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Performs all required ground, climbing, and aerial lift duties in support of specific job assignments, as directed by crew leader or designated supervisor.
  • Participates in all job site safety briefings
  • Utilizes all appropriate personal protective equipment
  • Understands and demonstrates proficiency in all aspects of the ground person position
  • Learns to identify the basic trees and shrubs common to the service area
  • Develops a basic understanding of tree growth
  • Demonstrates sound tree risk assessment skills
  • Demonstrates equipment inspection skills
  • Demonstrates proper application of approved knots
  • Demonstrates and practices proper climbing techniques and procedures
  • Demonstrates and practices proper pruning skills
  • Demonstrates and practices proper rigging techniques
  • Assists with driving, backing, dumping, and parking duties
  • Learns and understands the procedures and techniques needed to assist in performing plant health care services, such as pesticide and fertilizer applications
  • Learns and understands the dangers associated with electrical hazards

Class A CDL Driver

 

Status: Full-Time

Reports to: Crew Leader

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Move logs, machines and cut firewood in between runs
  • Can operate a Caterpillar multi-terrain loader with pilot controls for loading logs and moving trees and mini excavator to removal of stumps and grading. Must be able to load, and unload, machines described above onto a tag trailer to and from jobs daily
  • Reports for duty at the designated location on time each day
  • Follows directions from the crew leader or designated supervisor
  • Learns, understands, and adheres to all safety rules and company safety policies. Participates in all safety training sessions offered, asks questions, and improves job safety skills
  • Communicates well with all crew members and crew leader
  • Strives to improve job skills and develop the potential for upward mobility
  • Responsible for carrying out other duties as assigned by the crew leader or designated supervisor, arborist representative, or local manager

Ground Person

 

Status: Full-Time

Reports to: Crew Leader

Entry level climber/ground man: Serves as a team member of a tree care crew with the primary responsibility of assisting climbers and crew leaders in the performance of all services.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Serves as a team member of a tree care crew with the primary responsibility of assisting climbers and crew leaders in the performance of all services
  • Performs all required ground duties in support of specific job assignments, as directed by crew leader or designated supervisor
  • Participates in all job site safety briefings
  • Utilizes all appropriate personal protective equipment
  • Assists with the implementation of work zone safety procedures such as the placement of cones and signs, and the provision of flagging services
  • Properly utilizes hand tools associated with arboricultural and landscaping work
  • Uses and maintains chainsaws safely
  • Assists in conducting a tree risk assessment prior to working on any tree
  • Assists with the implementation of tree felling procedures
  • Assists climbers and crew leaders working on the ground and aloft
  • Operates the chipper and all other equipment safely
  • Assists with driving, backing, dumping, and parking duties
  • Learns and understands the procedures and techniques needed to assist in performing plant health care services, such as pesticide and fertilizer applications
  • Learns and understands the dangers associated with electrical hazards

Arborist

 

Status: Full-Time

Reports to: Crew Leader

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Operating heavy equipment, bucket trucks, and high reach to prune, move, install, and remove trees.
  • Climbing trees for proper maintenance and removal following Eric’s Tree Service LLC’s climbing and rigging guidelines.
  • Rigging trees for proper lifting and transport.
  • Providing correct hand signals for heavy equipment operation and rental cranes to insure safe operation.
  • Staking and guying trees according to Eric’s Tree Service LLC’s standards.
  • Identifying proper tree nutrition and/or deficiencies.
  • Understanding and actively participating in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established Eric’s Tree Service LLC’s policies, procedures, training, and team member involvement activities.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
